With each Oaks & Spokes item sold, money is used to create a better transportation future for Raleigh. Your support helps advocate for the building of new bike lanes, while providing outreach and support so all can have access to transportation options in our community. Small dream to big movement
This is the story of a girl, who saw a city that was missing – something. More bikes! That is what it needed. Meet Kristy Jackson. A lady with a mission to see a safe and sustainable transportation future for Raleigh. 10 years later and Oaks & Spokes got something rolling that continues to build momentum and a movement for safer streets.
The first Oaks & Spokes Festival was held in March 2013 and had over 1,200 participants. Since then, Oaks & Spokes has held Bike Month activities each spring since March 2013 through collaborations with the business community and the City of Raleigh.
Oaks & Spokes was incorporated as a non-profit in 2016, giving them more flexibility to pursue additional funding opportunities that align with their mission and the City, as a whole.
2021 has been a big year for Oaks & Spokes! They hired their first staff member and got really intentional about building their organizational capacity and accelerating access for all in Raleigh. The work of their staff is supported by eight board members.
Another big, welcome/surprise. The League of American Bicyclists announced Oaks & Spokes as the “Club of the Year”!
They can’t wait to continue building momentum for people-powered places with every single one of you, Raleigh. Let’s do it.
